Huge natural edge yew bowl

I’ve just introduced a new supersize bowl, as part of my range of natural edge designs. At two feet in diameter, this is officially the largest yew bowl I’ve ever turned and is made from a single piece of wood.

The original blank was roughed out in 2014 and has been seasoning in the corner of my shed ever since. Being so large, I thought it best to finish off  - and free up some well needed space! The image below gives an idea of its size, whilst still mounted on the lathe…

Nearly ready - I just need to complete the underside and apply some coats of oil. I’m delighted with the results and pleased there were no breakages!...

The finished piece, which can now be viewed in my gallery…
